Frerking leads Auburn women over No. 16 Florida 80-59

Feb 14, 2016 - 9:57 PM AUBURN, Ala. (AP) Katie Frerking scored 11 of her 18 points in the fourth quarter and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Auburn to an 80-59 victory over No. 16 Florida on Sunday.

The Tigers' fifth consecutive win vaulted Auburn (18-8, 8-5) past the Gators (19-6, 7-5) in the SEC standings. The teams meet again in a regular-season finale Feb. 28.

Brandy Montgomery added 16 points, Tra'Cee Tanner 12 and Khady Dieng 10.

Florida and Auburn came in ranked fourth and fifth nationally for steals but the Tigers dominated that category Sunday, 13-5. They also turned 22 Gators turnovers into 27 points.

After the teams combined for only 14 points in the third quarter, the Tigers outscored the Gators 23-10 in the final period. Frerking scored six straight points to give Auburn a 19-point lead with under four minutes left.

Ronni Williams scored 16 points and Carlie Needles 15 for Florida.
