Wisconsin hires Jonathan Tsipis as women's basketball coach
Mar 31, 2016 - 6:10 PM MADISON, Wis. (AP) Wisconsin has hired George Washington's Jonathan Tsipis as its women's basketball coach.Athletic director Barry Alvarez made the announcement Thursday.
Tsipis succeeds Bobbie Kelsey, who was fired after Wisconsin went 47-100 during her five years. The Badgers haven't finished above .500 since 2010-11.
Under Tsipis, the Colonials made their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance this season to go with a second consecutive Atlantic 10 Conference championship. George Washington was 11-18 the season before he arrived in 2012-13 and became one of the nation's top rebounding teams.
Tsipis also worked as an assistant at powerhouse Notre Dame under Hall of Fame coach Muffet McGraw.
