Cortijo, Texas hand DePaul first loss of season
Dec 29, 2007 - 7:04 AM SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- Carla Cortijo led six players in double figures with 17 points as No. 19 Texas knocked off No. 13 DePaul, 91-81, in the Surf'N Slam Classic on Friday.Cortijo converted 10-of-11 free throws and handed out nine assists as the Longhorns (10-2), who captured their eighth straight win.
Ashley Lindsey had 16 points and 11 rebounds and Brittainey Raven and Kathleen Nash scored 15 points apiece for Texas, which will face host San Diego, a 79-60 winner over Appalachian State, on Saturday.
Allie Quigley netted 29 points and collected seven steals for the Blue Demons (10-1), who absorbed their first loss of the season and were held under 90 points for the first time in five games.
Deirdre Naughton added 14 points for DePaul, which shot 35 percent (28-of-81).
