Morris, LSU bounce back over New Orleans

Dec 30, 2007 - 10:58 PM BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- Quianna Chaney had 14 points and Kristen Morris had her first career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds as eighth-ranked Louisiana State bounced back with a 73-46 victory over New Orleans on Sunday.

LSU (10-3) was playing its second game without Wooden Award candidate center Sylvia Fowles, who is out 2-4 weeks after knee surgery on December 21.

The Tigers lost their first game without Fowles to Middle Tennessee State on Friday, but used an early 13-0 run after New Orleans scored the first basket to take an 11-point lead four minutes into the game.

LSU shot 42 percent (30-of-71) and tied a school-record by committing only five turnovers for the game.

Le'Della English scored 15 points to lead the Privateers (7-5), who committed 31 turnovers that led to 36 points for the Tigers.
