Ajavon, Rutgers hold off Pepperdine
Jan 3, 2008 - 3:52 AM PISCATAWAY, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Matee Ajavon scored 16 points to lead No. 6 Rutgers to a 55-45 victory over Pepperdine on Wednesday night.Epiphanny Prince and Rashidat Junaid added 12 points apiece for the Scarlet Knights (10-2), who overcame a poor shooting performance to turn back the Waves.
Rutgers shot just 1-of-11 from 3-point range but negated that with a 28-12 advantage in points in the paint.
Daphanie Kennedy and Katie Menton scored 10 points apiece for Pepperdine (5-7), which committed 17 turnovers that led to 20 points for the Scarlet Knights.
