Carson sends Rutgers to ninth straight win
Jan 16, 2008 - 3:44 AM WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- Essence Carson had 18 points and 10 rebounds for No. 5 Rutgers en route to a 57-47 victory over Georgetown in Big East Conference action on Tuesday.Matee Ajavon and Myia McCurdy each added 11 points for the Scarlet Knights (14-2, 4-0 Big East), who won their ninth straight game.
Rutgers, which never trailed, led by as many as 15 points early in the second half. Neither team shot particularly well, with Rutgers going just 36 percent (16-of-45) from the floor while Georgetown made only 32 percent (15-for-47).
Georgetown's Jaleesa Butler scored 14 points to lead the Hoyas (10-6, 0-3), who have lost three straight and four of their last six games.
