Carson, Rutgers win fifth straight in Big East
Feb 23, 2008 - 10:08 PM PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island (Ticker) -- Essence Carson scored 16 points and Epiphanny Prince added 15 as fourth-ranked Rutgers posted a 62-43 victory over Providence in the Big East Conference on Saturday.Carson led four players in double figures, shooting 8-of-14 from the field and grabbing five rebounds.
Kia Vaughn had 11 points and 10 rebounds and Matee Ajavon scored 11 and handed out nine assists to go with five steals for the Scarlet Knights (22-4, 12-1 Big East).
Shooting 58 percent (18-of-31) in the first half, Rutgers built a 37-21 lead at the half en route to its fifth straight league win.
Ashley Etheridge scored 12 points for Providence (12-14, 2-11), which was outscored, 28-12, in points in the paint.
