Zellous leads Pittsburgh over Wyoming
Mar 23, 2008 - 12:23 AM ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (Ticker) -- Shavonte Zellous scored 21 points as sixth-seeded Pittsburgh posted a 63-58 victory over No. 11 Wyoming in the first round of the Spokane Regional on Saturday.Sophronia Sallard had 15 points and Marcedes Walker 13 for the Panthers (23-10), who advanced to face third seed Baylor in the Monday's second round.
Tied 28-28 at the half, Pittsburgh got to the line to pull ahead, converting 14-of-18 attempts. On the other hand, Wyoming reached the line just four times after the intermission.
Justyna Podziemska scored a season-high 23 points for the Cowgirls (24-7), who were making their first appearance in the NCAAs.
