Davis-Cain, Florida State bounce Ohio State
Mar 23, 2008 - 5:51 AM DES MOINES, Iowa (Ticker) -- Tanae Davis-Cain scored 27 points as 11th-seeded Florida State upset No. 6 Ohio State, 60-49, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament's New Orleans Regional on Saturday.Mara Freshour had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Seminoles (19-13), who advance to play Oklahoma State in the second round on Monday.
It was a third straight early exit for the Buckeyes (22-9), who lost as a No. 1 seed to Boston College in 2006. Ohio State also was upset by Marist last season.
Jantel Lavender scored 21 points for Ohio State, which shot just 35 percent (20-of-57) from the floor and trailed by as many as 20 points in the second half.
Florida State, which hit nine 3-pointers, has won six straight first-round games.
