Fowles sparks LSU's demolition of UL-Lafayette

Nov 17, 2006 - 4:21 AM BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- Sylvia Fowles scored 20 points and pulled down 13 rebounds as No. 9 Louisiana State recorded a suffocating 65-31 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette.

LSU (4-0) limited Lafayette to 21 percent shooting (10-of-46) and forced 21 turnovers.

Fowles made nearly as many baskets as the entire Lady Cajuns team. She connected on 8-of-14 shots, controlled the glass, and added three steals in 25 minutes.

Ashley Thomas and Quianna Chaney contributed eight points apiece for the Tigers, who shot 43 percent (26-of-60) and held a 43-29 rebounding advantage.

Sonora Edwards scored 10 points to lead Lafayette (2-2), which made just 4-of-19 3-pointers and 7-of-16 foul shots.
