Fowles powers LSU past New Orleans
Nov 28, 2006 - 9:00 AM NEW ORLEANS(Ticker) -- Sylvia Fowles continues to pile up the double-doubles.Fowles scored 17 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead ninth-ranked LSU to a 65-45 victory over New Orleans.
It was the 39th career double-double for Fowles, a 6-6 junior center who went over 1,000 points earlier in the season.
The Tigers broke out to an 8-0 lead en route to a 39-18 halftime advantage behind some torrid shooting. The Tigers shot 62 percent (16-of-26) from the field in the opening 20 minutes.
New Orleans (4-2) never got closer than 16 points thereafter.
Erica White scored 15 points to go along with six assists and five steals for the Tigers (9-1), which outrebounded the Privateers, 35-24.
Le'Della English scored 17 points and Cookie Johnson added 10 for New Orleans.
