UConn continues domination of Holy Cross

Dec 5, 2006 - 3:18 AM WORCESTER, Massachusetts (Ticker) -- Holy Cross might want to think about not scheduling Connecticut in the future.

Charde Houston scored 22 points to lead the seventh-ranked Huskies to an 83-64 win over the Crusaders.

UConn (5-0) has beaten Holy Cross in each of the last 10 straight seasons and 14 straight times overall dating to 1987.

Behind Brianna McFadden, Holy Cross (3-6) led most of the first half before UConn rallied to take a 42-35 lead at the break.

McFadden scored 11 points as the Crusaders shot 57 percent (13-of-23) from the floor and made 7-of-11 3-pointers in the opening 20 minutes.

UConn took control in the second half, utilizing its height advantage to dominate the backboards, 36-24, and making 16 steals to pull away. Houston hit 11-of-14 shots in helping the Huskies shoot 57 percent (38-of-67) for the game.

Renee Montgomery scored 16 points and Brittany Hunter added 12 and seven boards for UConn, which was playing its first road game.

McFadden and Laura Aloisi scored 13 points apiece for Holy Cross.
