Charles helps No. 7 Connecticut crush Georgetown
Dec 8, 2006 - 4:49 AM WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- Tina Charles and Connecticut wasted little time.Charles had 14 points and seven rebounds and Charde Houston also scored 14 as the seventh-ranked Huskies breezed to an 84-26 victory over Georgetown in the Big East Conference opener for both teams.
Renee Montgomery added 11 points for Connecticut, which held a commanding 55-12 lead at intermission and never looked back.
The Huskies (6-0, 1-0 Big East) scored 30 points off 25 turnovers and held an impressive 48-12 advantage in points in the paint.
Kieraah Marlow scored 12 points to lead Georgetown (7-3, 0-1), which shot just 20 percent (10-of-48) from the floor.
