Purdue uses second-half run to rout Mississippi St.
Dec 17, 2006 - 4:42 AM WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana (Ticker) -- Erin Lawless and Jodi Howell highlighted a strong effort by Purdue's starting five.Lawless and Howell both scored 17 points as 13th-ranked Purdue used a second-half surge to post a 75-49 victory over Mississippi State.
Lawless made all six of her shots from the field and Howell added five 3-pointers as Purdue's first five combined for 71 points and 32 of the team's 43 rebounds.
Katie Gearlds sank four shots from the arc en route to 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Boilermakers, who had a 33-23 lead at the half and put the game away with a 19-0 second-half spurt.
Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton scored 14 points and blocked four shots for Purdue (9-2), which shot 53 percent (26-of-49), including 10-of-20 on 3-pointers.
Alexis Rack scored 15 points and Marneshia Richard 11 for the Lady Bulldogs (4-5), who shot 27 percent (18-of-67).
