Valparaiso 20, Concordia (WI) 17

Sep 15, 2009 - 9:37 PM MEQUON, Wis.(AP) -- John Popper pulled down a 24-yard touchdown pass to bring Valparaiso back from behind in the 4th quarter as the Crusaders beat Concordia, Wis., 20-17 on Saturday.

The score was Bobby Wysocki's only touchdown throw in his first college start as Valparaiso (1-1) and Concordia (0-2) traded the lead throughout the game.

The Falcons set up for a field goal to tie with 37 seconds left in the game, but a botched snap forced holder Aaron Siekmann to try to find an open man in the end zone.

Paul Metcalf couldn't grab the pass, ending Concordia's final chance to win.

The Falcons' TJ Pacchioli threw for 100 yards and two first-half touchdowns.

The Crusaders' Chris Smith kicked two field goals, while Concordia's Daniel Winsey made one.
