SE Louisiana beats Sam Houston State 37-21

Oct 18, 2009 - 3:16 AM HAMMOND, La.(AP) -- Brian Babin threw for 286 yards and three touchdowns to Sim Yarborough to lead Southeastern Louisiana to a 37-21 victory over Sam Houston State on Saturday night.

Babin, who entered the game as the top-ranked quarterback in the Southland Conference, was 24-for-40 and connected with Yarborough on scoring passes of 2, 5 and 52 yards.

Yarborough finished with eight catches and 151 yards.

It was the first home game for the Lions (4-2, 2-0 Southland Conference) since Sept. 10.

Sam Houston State (3-3, 1-1) cut the lead to 20-14 on Blake Joseph's 4-yard pass to Jason Madkins with 7:51 left in the third quarter, but Southeastern Louisiana scored the next 17 points to put the game away.

Sam Houston State's Blake Joseph was 16 of 35 for 180 yards and touchdown passes of 16 and 4 yards to James Madkins.
