The ejection is reviewable, but the penalty isn't. Twice today the ejection has been overturned, but the penalty still stood. Since it was on a reception in each case, it gave the opposing team a first down they wouldn't have gotten otherwise. Thankfully, it made no ultimate difference in the OU game & looks as if it won't in this game either. But, one day, it's going to actually impact the ultimate outcome of the game.
In both cases, the defender did nothing but run into the catcher with his shoulder - hard - to separate him from the ball at the moment of catch.
