McKhan helps Morgan State edge Towson 12-9

Sep 27, 2009 - 12:14 AM BALTIMORE(AP) -- Darren McKhan intercepted a pass late in the fourth quarter and also returned a blocked extra point for two first-quarter points to help Morgan State defeat Towson 12-9 on Saturday.

McKhan's scoring play, which can be done in college football but not the NFL, cut Towson's lead to 6-2 in the first quarter and seemed to turn the game around.

Towson (1-2) outgained the Bears 344-161, but Morgan State (2-1) took the lead when Carlton Jackson directed a 12-play, 89-yard drive that ended with him rolling left and throwing a 26-yard touchdown pass to Lamont Bryant. That put Morgan State (2-1) ahead 9-6 with 9:53 left in the first half.

Kemar Scarlett kicked a 41-yard field goal to give Morgan State a 12-6 lead and Jon Boyer made a 35-yard field goal for Towson in the third quarter.

McKhan picked off Peter Ahrens' pass at the Morgan State 33 with 4:18 left.
