Carter lifts Syracuse past Wyoming in double overtime

Sep 30, 2006 - 10:24 PM SYRACUSE, New York (Ticker) -- Fans at the Carrier Dome are getting used to double-overtime contests. They went home happy this time.

Delone Carter rushed for four touchdowns, ending the contest on a 15-yard run in the second extra session, as the Orange defeated Wyoming, 40-34, in a non-conference matchup.

Three weeks ago, Syracuse played valiantly before falling to Iowa, 20-13, in double overtime.

The Orange (3-2) gave up a tying touchdown with five seconds left in regulation, a 15-yard pass from Karsten Sween to Hoost Marsh.

But instead of being demoralized, the Orange held tough. Carter scored on a 16-yard run to begin overtime before Wynel Seldon answered with a 14-yard scamper. After Syracuse held the Cowboys on downs, Carter ended the game four plays later.

Carter rushed for 129 yards on 20 carries for Syracuse, which has won three straight games after an 0-2 start.

Michael Ford had 12 catches for 110 yards for Wyoming (1-4).
