Zabransky, Boise State crush Louisiana Tech

Oct 8, 2006 - 3:52 AM BOISE, Idaho (Ticker) -- Jared Zabransky and Boise State made it look too easy.

Zabransky had his hand in four touchdowns for the 20th-ranked Broncos en route to a 55-14 triumph over Louisiana Tech in a Western Athletic Conference matchup.

Boise State (6-0, 2-0 WAC) has been piling up the points of late, having outscored its last two opponents by 91-17. It has the highest-scoring program in the country since 2000, averaging nearly 42 points over 81 contests.

"We're kind of always pleased with these guys' effort," Broncos coach Chris Petersen said. "They give good effort. And not only do they give it all on Saturday, they give it during the week when we prepare. And I think that's why they always play so well, because they're doing a good job of staying focused and putting the work in during the week."

Zabransky ran for an one-yard score in the first quarter and added another on the ground one period later to make it 21-7. The senior signal-caller also completed TD passes of five and 24 yards and finished 11-of-18 for 184 yards.

"We were very focused this week, we knew what we had to do," Zabransky said. "If we want to be a great team, we have to show up every week and prove that."

In the third quarter, Broncos safety Marty Tadman recorded his second interception this season and returned it 98 yards for a touchdown and a 48-7 advantage.

"I think we hit our stride," Tadman said. "When offense and defense come together, it's dangerous and I don't think anyone can stop us."

It marked as the second-longest interception return in school history, just one yard shy of Tasi Autele's record set in 1993.

Ian Johnson rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown for Boise State, which improved to 23-1 home over the past four years.

Zac Champion threw for 135 yards on 14-of-29 attempts and Patrick Jackson carried 15 times for 70 yards and a score for the Bulldogs (1-4, 0-1), who fell to 4-2 in conference openers.

"I talked to the players about overcoming adversity," Louisiana Tech coach Jack Bicknell said. "Life is not always easy. We have some things we have to correct, but we are going to get better."
