Injured Brennan hopes to play for Hawaii at San Jose State

Oct 12, 2007 - 10:46 AM No. 16 Hawaii (6-0) at San Jose State (3-3) 8:00 pm EDT

SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- Hawaii coach June Jones may not have his starting quarterback when the Warriors try to match their best start in 26 years.

Colt Brennan may not be healthy for the 16th-ranked Warriors when they visit San Jose State for a Western Athletic Conference matchup Friday.

Considered a Heisman Trophy candidate entering the season, Brennan aggravated a right ankle injury in Hawaii's 52-37 home win over Utah State last Saturday.

Tyler Graunke, who had started for Brennan in Hawaii's 66-10 rout of Charleston Southern on September 22, replaced him and tossed three third-quarter touchdowns to lead Hawaii (6-0, 3-0 WAC) to victory.

Graunke completed 9-of-11 passes for 246 yards with an interception for the Warriors, who have not started 7-0 since 1981.

San Jose State (3-3, 2-0) remained perfect in WAC play with a 28-20 home win over Idaho last Saturday.

Adam Tafralis threw for 302 yards, two TDs and one interception while J.T. Callier rushed for 93 yards and two scores for the Spartans, who limited the Vandals to 68 yards through the air.

Last year, Hawaii rolled to a 54-17 home win over San Jose State, its sixth straight victory in the series.
