After dramatic win, BC hosts Florida State

Nov 3, 2007 - 10:44 AM Florida St (5-3) at No. 2 Boston College (8-0) 8:00 pm EDT

CHESTNUT HILL, Massachusetts (Ticker) -- Matt Ryan and Boston College will be hard-pressed to top the exciting finish of their last contest.

Eight days after a dramatic road victory, Ryan and the second-ranked Eagles return home to take on Florida State in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup.

Last Thursday, Boston College (8-0, 4-0 ACC Atlantic) kept its perfect season alive with a 14-10 triumph at rainy Virginia Tech.

The Eagles were blanked until Ryan threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Rich Grunnell with 2:11 to play.

After BC recovered an onside kick, Ryan led the Eagles down the field and tossed a 24-yard TD to Andre Callender with 11 seconds to go, capping a wild finish.

Ryan, who greatly aided his Heisman Trophy credentials with the win, completed 25-of-52 passes for 285 yards, overcoming two interceptions with his two late TDs.

Florida State (5-3, 2-3 Atlantic) had lost back-to-back games at Wake Forest and vs. Miami before downing lowly Duke last Saturday, 25-6.

Starting once again, Drew Weatherford threw for 339 yards and a touchdown, while Preston Parker had a TD catch and scoring run in the win.

Last year, BC held on for a 24-19 win at Florida State when Weatherford's "Hail Mary" fell incomplete.
