Harrell, Filani lead Texas Tech in rout of Baylor

Nov 4, 2006 - 9:45 PM LUBBOCK, Texas (Ticker) -- Graham Harrell, Joel Filani and Texas Tech shook off a bitter defeat.

Harrell and Filani connected on three touchdowns in a 7 1/2-minute span bridging halftime as the Red Raiders pulled away from Baylor, 55-21, in a Big 12 Conference matchup.

Last week, Harrell passed for 519 yards and three touchdowns, but the Red Raiders blew a 21-0 lead in a 35-31 home loss to rival Texas. On Saturday, Harrell completed 35-of-52 passes for 483 yards, four TDs and one interception.

Filani had eight catches for 212 yards and Shannon Woods rushed for 125 yards and three TDs for Texas Tech (6-4, 3-3 Big 12 South), which totaled 682 yards.

Texas Tech trailed, 14-7, before Woods scored on a 34-yard run with 7:46 to play in the second quarter.

The touchdown triggered a run of 35 straight points by the Red Raiders, which Woods capped with a one-yard run with 7:04 to go in the third period. In between, Harrell tossed TDs of four, 32 and 76 yards to Filani.

Filling in for the injured Shawn Bell, redshirt freshman Blake Szymanski went 16-of-30 for 197 yards, a TD and an interception for the Bears (4-6, 3-3 South). He was sacked six times.
