BYU aims for seventh straight win Thursday vs. Wyoming

PROVO, Utah (Ticker) - The top two teams in the Mountain West Conference standings face off Thursday when No. 25 Brigham Young hosts Wyoming.

BYU (7-2, 5-0 MWC) has won six consecutive contests, including a 24-3 triumph at Colorado State last Saturday.

Fui Vakapuna rushed for a pair of touchdowns and John Beck threw for 297 yards for the Cougars, who held a 402-151 advantage in total offense.

With the victory, BYU entered the rankings for the first time in four years. The Cougars are in their second season under coach Bronco Mendenhall.

Wyoming (5-5, 4-2) has won four of its last five games but needed to rally from a 14-point second-quarter deficit to defeat San Diego State at home last weekend, 27-24. Joseph Harris rushed for two touchdowns and Devin Moore ran for 131 yards for the Cowboys, who scored 24 straight points to grab a 27-17 lead before hanging on.

BYU, which is 24-12 all-time against Wyoming in Provo, posted a 35-21 road win over the Cowboys last year.
