Ole Miss stuns Florida on blocked extra point

Sep 27, 2008 - 8:01 PM GAINESVILLE, Florida (Ticker) -- Defensive end Kentrell Lockett blocked an extra point with 3:28 remaining, preserving Mississippi's 31-30 upset of fourth-ranked Florida on Saturday.

The Gators (3-1, 1-1 SEC East) had one more chance, but quarterback Tim Tebow was stopped for no gain on 4th-and-1 from the Rebels' 32-yard line with 41 seconds remaining.

Florida was in position to tie after Percy Harvin scored on a 15-yard touchdown run to cap a 68-yard drive. Harvin's score came after the Rebels had taken a 31-24 lead on Jevan Snead's 85-yard TD strike to Shay Hodge.

But Lockett burst through the middle of the line and got a hand on Jonathan Phillips' extra point attempt, pushing the kick wide right.

Ole Miss (3-2, 1-1 SEC West) took advantage of three Florida turnovers to win for the second time in as many trips to the "Swamp." In 2003, the El Manning-led Rebels won here, 20-17.
