Brennan aims for NCAA record vs. Oregon State

Nov 28, 2006 - 9:28 PM Oregon St (8-4) at No. 24 Hawaii (10-2), 12:05 am EST

HONOLULU (Ticker) - Colt Brennan tries to set an NCAA single-season record for touchdown passes as No. 24 Hawaii hosts Oregon State on Saturday night.

Brennan has thrown a staggering 51 touchdowns this season - 15 more than anybody else in Division I-A - and needs four against the Beavers to break the single-season mark set by Houston's David Klingler in 1990.

Brennan came to the rescue for Hawaii (10-2) in a 42-35 victory over Purdue last weekend, throwing all three of his touchdowns in the final quarter, including a go-ahead 23-yarder to Ian Sample with just 1:27 to play.

The Californian completed 33-of-48 passes for 434 yards and Nate Ilaoa ran for a career-best 159 yards and two scores in the win, the Warriors' ninth straight.

Oregon State (8-4) concluded Pac-10 Conference play with a 6-3 mark following a wild 30-28 win over Oregon last Saturday.

Alexis Serna connected on a 40-yard field goal with 1:12 remaining, and the Beavers blocked a 44-yard attempt on the last play.

The series is tied at three wins apiece. The schools have not met since a 23-17 win by Hawaii in the 1999 Oahu Bowl.
