Den Dekker quits as Thunderbirds coach
Jun 3, 2016 - 1:17 AM Michelle den Dekker has quit as coach of the winless Adelaide Thunderbirds in the trans-Tasman netball competition.Netball South Australia says a "mutual agreement" has been reached with den Dekker, who was in her first year as Adelaide's head coach.
The former Australian great has overseen eight consecutive losses - a streak made worse by a spate of injuries.
"Michelle den Dekker and Netball SA have reached a mutual agreement to part ways immediately," Netball SA said in a statement on Friday.
"Netball SA will begin the search for a new coach next week to ensure a coach is in place before the recruitment window opens for the new national netball league in August."
Assistant coach Kristy Keppich-Birrell has been named interim coach for the remaining five games of the season.
The Thunderbirds host West Coast Fever on Sunday.
