Seahawks run past Rams

Nov 21, 2011 - 3:11 AM St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Marshawn Lynch and Justin Forsett ran for touchdowns in the second half as the Seattle Seahawks dropped the St. Louis Rams, 24-7, at Edward Jones Dome.

Tarvaris Jackson completed 14-of-24 passes for 148 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions for the Seahawks (4-6), who have won two straight after dropping three in a row.

Lynch totaled 88 rushing yards while Mike Williams hauled in two passes for 62 yards, including a 55-yard toss from Sidney Rice on the first play from scrimmage. Rice also caught three passes for 35 yards and a score.

St. Louis quarterback Sam Bradford threw for 181 yards, one touchdown and one interception on 20-of-40 passing, while Steven Jackson was limited to 42 yards on 15 carries.

Brandon Lloyd caught five passes for 67 yards and a touchdown for the Rams (2-8), who could not carry momentum over from last week's 13-12 win at Cleveland.

The Seahawks got the ball to begin the game and started with a bang when Rice tossed one down the right sideline to Williams, putting the ball on the Rams' 30.

On the next play, Jackson's pass intended for Williams was picked off by Chris Chamberlain, giving the ball to the Rams on the 29, but they were forced to punt.

On the Seahawks' second drive of the game, Jackson was picked off again, this time by Quentin Mikell, which gave the ball to St. Louis at the 27.

Bradford then connected with Lloyd for a 30-yard touchdown strike on the second play of the drive.

"We came out and played so miserable in the first quarter," said Seahawks coach Pete Carroll. "But what was really well done by our guys is that they did not waver. We just kept playing and you could just feel it change."

The Seahawks came back to knot it at seven midway through the second quarter when Jackson led a six-play, 40-yard drive that ended when he hooked up with Rice on a 14-yard touchdown pass.

On the final play of the first half, Seattle kicker Steven Hauschka was good from 19 yards out to give the Seahawks a 10-7 lead at the break.

Midway through the third quarter, the Seahawks defense came up with a big play, sacking Bradford and getting a fumble recovery to give the ball back to the offense on the St. Louis 25.

From that spot, the Seahawks moved the ball to the end zone in five plays. Lynch capped the drive with a three-yard touchdown run to give his team a 17-7 lead.

The Rams defense forced Seattle to punt from its own 15 with 6:05 to play in the fourth quarter, but the Seahawks' Jon Ryan booted a 62-yard kick to the St. Louis 23.

Making matters worse for the Rams, Bradford's pass for Austin Pettis was picked off on the second play of the drive by Red Bryant.

Seattle cemented the win on its next drive, needing only three plays before Forsett broke a 22-yard sprint to the end zone, putting the Seahawks up 24-7 with 4:21 to play.

"It's hard to play defense when you're behind, it's hard to win games when you only score seven points," said Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo.

David Hawthorne recovered a fumble on the Rams' next drive, allowing the Seahawks to run off most of the remaining time.

The Seahawks own a 16-10 advantage in their overall regular-season series with St. Louis and have bested the Rams in 12 of the last 13 meetings...Seattle's defense finished with five sacks...St. Louis converted 5-of-15 third down chances, while Seattle went 7-of-17 on third down...St. Louis defensive end Chris Long recorded his career-high ninth sack of the season, one of four Rams sacks on Sunday.
