Smith, 49ers top Raiders

Aug 21, 2011 - 3:52 AM San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - Alex Smith threw for 126 yards on 8-of-13 passing with an interception and Kendall Hunter rushed nine times for 105 yards and a touchdown, leading the San Francisco 49ers past the Oakland Raiders, 17-3.

Former New York Jet receiver Braylon Edwards caught two passes for 46 yards and standout tight end Vernon Davis grabbed two balls for 19 yards. Starting running back Frank Gore rushed four times for 21 yards.

Former Philadelphia Eagles kicker David Akers connected on a 23-yard field goal for San Francisco.

Jason Campbell completed five of seven passes for 74 yards before leaving the game in the second quarter with an injury after taking a sack. Trent Edwards came in and passed for 36 yards on 3-of-6 completions and Kyle Boller threw for 56 yards on 6-of-11 passing.

Michael Bush led Oakland's rushing attack, running six times for 26 yards. Darrius Heyward-Bey caught two passes from Campbell for 40 yards and rookie Denarius Moore also caught two balls from Campbell.

After a scoreless first quarter, Akers got the 49ers on the board for the only points of the first half.

In the third quarter, Hunter ripped off a 53-yard touchdown run to give the Niners a 10-0 advantage,

Early in the fourth, Sebastian Janikowski connected on a 46-yard field goal attempt to break the shutout, but San Francisco answered with a five- yard touchdown run from Xavier Omon to cap the scoring.
