Bailey boosts Cowboys past Raiders

Aug 14, 2012 - 3:47 AM Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Dan Bailey made a 33-yard field goal on Monday, helping the Cowboys down the Raiders, 3-0, in the preseason opener for both teams.

Tony Romo completed 3-of-6 passes for 30 yards in a brief appearance for the Cowboys, who went 8-8 last year and missed playoffs for the second straight season.

Kyle Orton threw for 87 yards and an interception on 7-of-12 passing and led Dallas on a 67-yard drive to open the third quarter, which resulted in Bailey's field goal.

Jamize Olawale finished with 42 yards on 12 carries in the win while Andre Holmes caught three passes for 40 yards. Dez Bryant had one, 24-yard catch.

Carson Palmer was intercepted by Gerald Sensabaugh on Oakland's first drive and finished with 33 yards on 3-of-6 passing in two series.

Last season, the playoff-hopeful Raiders acquired Palmer from the Bengals after starting quarterback Jason Campbell suffered a broken right clavicle in a Week 6 win over the Browns.

The Raiders were 4-2 at the time of the trade, but they sputtered to a 4-6 record under Palmer and failed to make the postseason. The former Bengal posted an 80.5 quarterback rating and threw 16 interceptions against 13 touchdowns with Oakland.

Palmer's transition was made more difficult by the loss of running back Darren McFadden in Week 7, who went down with a season-ending foot injury.

The fifth-year pro looked explosive on Monday, reeling off a 16-yard run and finishing with 20 yards on just two carries.

Terrelle Pryor, entering his second season after a standout career at Ohio State, played the entire second half for Oakland and completed 8-of-15 passes for 50 yards and an interception while rushing for 21 yards.

Late in the fourth quarter, Pryor led the Raiders on a 52-yard march, but Eddy Carmona missed a 36-yard field goal attempt.

After a Dallas three-and-out, the Raiders moved to the Cowboys' 40-yard line before Pryor took a 16-yard sack -- by Baraka Atkins. An incomplete pass followed before Mana Silva intercepted Pryor on fourth down with less than a minute to play.

Earlier, Oakland's Sebastian Janikowski had a 47-yard field goal attempt partially blocked in the second quarter.
