Broncos list Orton No. 1 on depth chart, ahead of Tebow

Aug 9, 2011 - 3:52 AM Englewood, CO (Sports Network) - Kyle Orton, as expected, was listed at No. 1 on the Denver Broncos depth chart at quarterback, ahead of Tim Tebow.

There was some talk going into the year that Tebow may have a shot at supplanting Orton, but instead the Broncos released their depth chart Monday showing Orton No. 1, followed by Tebow and Brady Quinn.

The Broncos open the preseason Thursday night on the road against Dallas.

"It's where I have been practicing, so I am excited to get on the field," Orton said. "We have a ways to go as the No. 1 offense and to get ready for opening day. This will be a good measure to see where we're at. We're going to play a pretty good defense on the road, so there will be some things that some of the young guys have to get adjusted to playing on the road and all that stuff, so it will be a good place to see where we are at."

Orton played in 13 games for the Broncos last season, but Tebow, a first-round draft pick last year, started the final three games of 2010. He threw for 654 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions during his rookie campaign, while rushing for 227 yards and six touchdowns. During his three starts, the Broncos averaged 25 points a game.
