Brown's field goal lifts Rams over Titans

Aug 21, 2011 - 3:27 AM St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Josh Brown kicked a 42-yard field goal on the game's final play to boost St. Louis to a 17-16 preseason win over the Tennessee Titans.

Thaddeus Lewis, a second-year player out of Duke, led the Rams on the winning, 12-play, 67-yard march. He completed a key 12-yard pass to Mardy Gilyard to move the ball to the Tennessee 23.

Sam Bradford's first pass of the night, the opening play of the game, resulted in an 83-yard touchdown to Brandon Gibson. His third pass was picked off by Alterraun Verner, but the Rams starting QB hung in and played the first half, finishing 8-of-15 for 138 yards.

Steven Jackson had six rushes for 10 yards for the Rams.

"It was the first live action I've had," Jackson said. "It's a great feeling to see where I'm at, see where I mesh up with the offensive line and with the scheme."

A.J. Feeley went 5-of-9 for 44 yards, including a 19-yard TD to Donnie Avery in the third quarter. Lewis misfired on just two of his 10 passes.

Titans starter Matt Hasselbeck connected on 7-of-9 passes for 74 yards, but had the wind knocked out of him with 5 1/2 minutes left in the second quarter. He was attended to by medical staff, but walked off the field under his own power.

Jake Locker replaced Hasselbeck and went 8-of-18 for 82 yards. Rookie Hamie Harper gained 83 yards on 11 carries and had a one-yard scoring run.
