Charles exits Wild Card Game with head injury
Jan 4, 2014 - 10:47 PM Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro running back Jamaal Charles left Saturday's AFC Wild Card Playoff against the Indianapolis Colts after sustaining a possible concussion on the game's opening drive.Charles was slow to get up following a 7-yard run around 3 1/2 minutes into the contest. He walked to the locker room shortly afterward and was initially declared questionable to return, but the team ruled him out for the remainder of the game later in the first half.
The playmaking back led the NFL with 19 touchdowns during the regular season while ranking second in the league with 1,980 yards from scrimmage. Charles gained 1,287 rushing yards with 12 touchdowns on 259 carries and caught 70 passes totaling 693 yards along with seven more scores.
Rookie Knile Davis has taken over as the Chiefs' lead back in Charles' absence.
