Seahawks look to regroup against winless Saints

SEATTLE (Ticker) -- The Seattle Seahawks hope some home cooking will get them back on track.

Following their worst offensive performance in more than five years, the Seahawks return home on Sunday to host the winless New Orleans Saints.

Seattle was held to just 144 yards in last week's 21-0 loss at Pittsburgh - its lowest since gaining 149 yards against the New York Giants on September 22, 2002.

However, since Week 16 of the 2002 season, the Seahawks have gone 29-6 at Qwest Field. It is the NFL's second-best home mark during that span, behind only the Indianapolis Colts (31-6).

Seattle also is beginning a favorable stretch in which it will host winless teams in back-to-back weeks. Next week, the Seahawks face the St. Louis Rams, who are 0-5.

After possessing the ball for less than 20 minutes against the Steelers, Seattle will try to keep its defense off the field. Since 2005, the Seahawks are 17-1 when having an edge in time of possession.

Seattle also needs Matt Hasselbeck and Shaun Alexader to bounce back from their worst games of the season. Hasselbeck completed just 13-of-27 passes for 113 yards, while Alexander rushed for only 25 yards on 11 carries.

Alexander remains two shy of 100 rushing touchdowns. When he reaches the mark, he will be the eighth player in NFL history to achieve the milestone.

One of three winless teams, the Saints look nothing like the team that boasted the NFL's top offense last season. They rank 30th in scoring, averaging just 12.8 points per game.

New Orleans has lost its four contests by a combined 17 points but at least showed progress in last last week's 16-13 loss to the Carolina Panthers. John Kasay kicked a 52-yard field goal with three seconds remaining to give Carolina the win.

Still, Drew Brees continued to have his problems for New Orleans, completing 29-for-47 passes for 252 yards and a pair of interceptions.

Seattle has won three straight against New Orleans, including a 21-7 victory in the last meeting in 2004.
