Backup QBs to start again for Seahawks, Bucs

TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) -- Injuries have forced the Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers to turn to their backup quarterbacks for a second consecutive week.

The Seahawks will be without Matt Hasselbeck again while the Buccaneers will start Jeff Garcia on Sunday.

Tampa Bay (4-2) appears more equipped for the loss with Garcia, who passed for 173 yards and one touchdown in last week's 27-3 triumph over the Carolina Panthers.

The starter at the beginning of the season, Garcia has passed for 487 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions this season.

Brian Griese replaced Garcia as the starter after the season opener, but he suffered an elbow injury two weeks ago.

Hasselbeck also will miss his second straight game due an ailing right knee. Hasselbeck was inactive for last Sunday's 27-17 loss to the Green Bay Packers after suffering the injury against the New York Giants two weeks ago.

Third-string quarterback Charlie Frye made the start last week and struggled, completing 12-of-23 passes for 83 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Backup signal-caller Seneca Wallace was available against Green Bay, but did not play because of a sore calf. The Seahawks (1-4) are expected to start Wallace if he is successful in practice this week.
