Raiders eye season sweep of Chiefs

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- The Oakland Raiders finally have something to build upon. The Kansas City Chiefs are hoping to do the same.

Two of the worst teams in the AFC square off when the Raiders host the Chiefs on Sunday.

The game is a rematch of Week Two, when Oakland rushed for 300 yards in a 23-8 victory over the Chiefs, who have lost seven straight games and 19 of their last 20.

The Raiders snapped their own four-game skid with a surprising 31-10 thumping at AFC West-leading Denver last weekend.

Justin Fargas rushed for 107 yards and rookie Darren McFadden added a pair of 1-yard scoring runs as Oakland scored two touchdowns in a game for the first time in two months.

In the first meeting, McFadden shredded the Chiefs for 164 yards, but he has been limited by a nagging turf toe injury since.

Second-year quarterback JaMarcus Russell had one of his better efforts of the season last weekend against Denver, completing 10-of-11 passes for 152 yards and two scoring passes to Ashley Lelie.

Kansas City is coming off one of its more dismal performances in a dreadful season, allowing the most points in franchise history in a 54-31 drubbing by the Buffalo Bills last weekend.

The Chiefs committed five turnovers, helping the Bills turn a 14-10 deficit into a 40-17 lead. Tyler Thigpen threw for 240 yards and three touchdowns, but was burned by two interceptions, one of which was returned 64 yards for a score.

"I put this one on my shoulders. I can't turn the ball over," Thigpen said. "I threw two picks and had a fumble and I can't do that. That's the bottom line. You can't win games when you do that."
