Schneider shines as Canucks top Stars

Jan 1, 2011 - 5:24 AM Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Cory Schneider had a stellar 44-save performance to lead Vancouver's 4-1 victory over Dallas at American Airlines Center.

Kevin Bieksa, Daniel Sedin and Henrik Sedin each had a goal and an assist for the Canucks, who end a very successful December, during which they went 11-1-2.

Raffi Torres also added a goal for the victors.

Brenden Morrow tallied the lone goal for the Stars, who have lost four of their last five contests.

"We let some soft ones in where we weren't battling hard enough in front," Morrow said. "We made it tough on our goalie."

Kari Lehtonen made just 10 saves on 14 shots before getting pulled in favor of Andrew Raycroft in the second period. Raycroft stopped all eight shots he saw.

The Canucks registered two goals late in the first period, which started a four-goal burst.

Daniel Sedin scored the first at 17:11, off a pass from Henrik while on a power play. Forty-seven seconds later, Jannik Hansen hit an open Torres, who skated into the offensive zone all alone and sent the backhand past Lehtonen.

The edge grew to three with 10:08 left in the second on Henrik Sedin's power- play goal. Schneider then made a blocker save on James Neal's penalty shot with 6:21 left in the same period to keep Dallas scoreless.

Lehtonen was pulled after giving up the fourth goal with 3:10 left in the second, when Bieksa scored a power-play goal.

Dallas finally tallied just 3:21 into the final frame, when Morrow scored off a Mike Ribeiro feed during a man-advantage.
