Nashville stays hot in win over Atlanta

Apr 6, 2011 - 3:31 AM Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Jordin Tootoo and Sergei Kostitsyn each had two goals and an assist to help the Nashville Predators take a 6-3 win over the Atlanta Thrashers.

Patric Hornqvist had three assists while Matt Halischuk tallied a goal and an assist for the Predators, who have won eight of their last 10 games. Pekka Rinne stopped 33 shots.

Nashville has 97 points and sits in the fourth spot in the Western Conference, one point head of Phoenix and Los Angeles, both of which are off on Tuesday.

Blake Wheeler scored twice and Nik Antropov added a goal for the Thrashers, who have lost three of their last four. Chris Mason was pulled in the second period after giving up four goals on 13 shots. Ondrej Pavelec stopped 9-of-11 shots the rest of the way.

Nashville scored three times in the first period to take command of the game.

Halischuk scored on a no-look backhand shot from in the slot at the 5:24 mark and Tootoo tallied his first goal of the game when he poked in a loose puck behind Mason with 41.9 seconds left in the frame.

Just seconds before the break, Kostitsyn snapped the puck home from the low right side for a 3-0 advantage.

Tootoo made it a 4-0 game with the only goal of the second period at the 1:56 mark with a slam home from in front.

Kostitsyn scored on a tip-in 2:28 into the third while Wheeler's first goal 38 seconds later got Atlanta on the board.

Mike Fisher made it a 6-1 game on a power-play goal at the 6:18 mark while Wheeler and Antropov scored less than a minute apart late in the game to make it respectable.
