Elliott, Blues dump Flyers
Oct 23, 2011 - 2:14 AM Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Brian Elliott made 16 of his 34 saves in the third period, backstopping the St. Louis Blues to a 4-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center.Carlo Colaiacovo's late second-period goal proved to be the game-winner for the Blues, who handed the Flyers their second consecutive loss and third straight at home.
Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 21-of-25 shots for Philadelphia, which trimmed its deficit to 3-2 when Matt Carle netted a power-play goal with 6:46 remaining in the third.
But Matt D'Agostini scored with the man-advantage 66 seconds later to restore St. Louis' two-goal lead.
The Blues beat Bryzgalov twice in the first period.
Kent Huskins lit the lamp with a shot from the left point 1:48 into the contest, then T.J. Oshie made a drop pass to Colaiacovo and hammered home the return feed at 10:04.
Danny Briere put Philadelphia on the board 56 seconds into the second period, snapping a shot from the bottom of the right circle over Elliott's glove.
Colaiacovo picked up a loose puck in front of the net and slid it under Bryzgalov with 4:24 to go in the middle stanza.
Game Notes
St. Louis forward Chris Stewart played in his 200th career game...Briere collected an assist on Carle's goal, giving him 599 career points...The Blues began a four-game road trip.
