Henrique lifts Devils over Jets in OT

Nov 6, 2011 - 2:35 AM Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - Adam Henrique's second goal of the night, 1:28 into overtime, boosted the New Jersey Devils to a 3-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets.

Patrik Elias also lit the lamp for the Devils, who wasted a two-goal lead in the final period, but picked up their second straight win.

Martin Brodeur made 21 saves for the Devils, who played without forward Ilya Kovalchuk. He was out due to a leg muscle injury.

Jim Slater and Mark Flood scored, while Dustin Byfuglien had a pair of assists for the Jets, who had won their previous two contests. Ondrej Pavelec made 25 saves in defeat.

Zach Parise passed the puck to Henrique as he was coming onto the ice. The breakaway proved fruitful as Henrique scored using the forehand.

"The last two games it's been fun," Parise said. "We haven't been rattled, and that's definitely a good sign for us."

Elias scored 4:08 into the second period taking a left circle pass from Dainius Zubrus and rocketing a successful one-timer from the slot.

Henrique made it 2-0 at the 12:59 mark by lifting a backhander up high into the net on a breakaway.

"They try to frustrate you and if you get away from your game, they create turnovers and make you pay," Slater said. "We did a good job sticking with the game plan."

Flood's first NHL goal came 6:43 into the third on a blast from above the left circle, and the Jets tied the game on a play where a penalty could have been called as Blake Wheeler hooked away Anton Volchenkov from the puck in the right circle. The disc came to rest on the stick of Slater, who deposited it by Brodeur.

Game Notes

The Jets were 0-for-3 on the power play...The Devils have won eight of the last 10 meetings against the Thrashers/Jets. That includes four in a row at home.
