Habs beat Preds in OT

Nov 13, 2011 - 4:59 AM Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Max Pacioretty netted the game-winner 2:31 into overtime, lifting the Montreal Canadiens to a 2-1 victory over the Nashville Predators.

David Desharnais tallied the other goal for Montreal, which has won two straight overtime games.

Peter Budaj made 25 saves in the win.

Shea Weber scored the lone goal for Nashville, which got 23 saves from Pekka Rinne.

"Obviously, we need to turn these one-point games into two-point games," Rinne said.

Desharnais recorded the first tally with 6:11 remaining in the opening period. Erik Cole maneuvered into the high slot and found Desharnais, who received the feed in the left circle. Desharnais deked and beat Rinne with a backhand.

Weber tied it 3:20 into the second period with a power-play goal. Weber took a pass from Ryan Suter from the left point, and fired a laser from the right point to square the game.

Rinne made nine saves, while Budaj stopped eight in the third period to keep the contest tied.

In the overtime session, Pacioretty lifted a wrister from the left circle which handcuffed Rinne as it sailed into the top left corner.
