Bruins pour it on late to down Devils

Jan 20, 2012 - 7:08 AM Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - Gregory Campbell had a goal and an assist, as the Bruins finished strong to down the Devils, 4-1, on Thursday.

Andrew Ference, Nathan Horton and Chris Kelly also scored during a four-goal third period for the Bruins, who were coming off Tuesday's loss at Tampa Bay. Tim Thomas made 30 saves in the win.

The Devils, meanwhile, saw their three-game win streak come to an end. Petr Sykora scored their lone goal during the first period and Martin Brodeur made 21 saves.

"It was disappointing. I thought we played a great hockey game. ... Everything just fell apart for us," Brodeur said.

The Devils grabbed a 1-0 lead with 1:31 remaining in the first, as Dainius Zubrus recovered the puck behind the net and fed Sykora in front for the one- time tally.

Boston, meanwhile, appeared stymied, getting just six shots on net in both the first and second periods. Its woes came to a hasty halt in the third when Ference smoked a slap shot past Brodeur from the left point at 3:01.

Horton and Campbell continued the surge four minutes later, scoring 35 seconds apart on a tip-in and a rebound, respectively. Horton's 17th of the season came on the power play and Campbell's came after a spirited flurry in front of the net.

Kelly added an empty netter with 47 seconds left to seal the final result.

"It's one thing to talk about [finding ways to win]," Thomas said. "One of the good things about this team is more often than not we do it."
