Predators edge Ducks

Dec 11, 2011 - 5:25 AM Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Jordin Tootoo had a goal and an assist as the Nashville Predators took a 3-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks.

Nick Spaling and Roman Josi each scored for the Predators, who have won their past two. Pekka Rinne stopped 15 shots in the win.

"I think we've been playing much better defensively," said Tootoo. "Obviously there's things we need to clean up, but it's definitely getting better here."

Francois Beauchemin and Andrew Gordon both scored for the Ducks, who have dropped four of five. Dan Ellis was touched for all three goals on 28 shots.

After a scoreless first period, Anaheim scored 38 seconds into the second as Brandon McMillan fought off a checker behind the net and sent a pass to the right side where Gordon snapped it home.

Nashville tied it at the 12:03 mark of the middle frame when Colin Wilson hit a trailing Spaling with a pass along the right wing where Spaling wristed it home.

Josi's first career goal came on the power play 2:33 into the third as his slap shot from the high slot sailed past Ellis for a 2-1 lead.

Three minutes later it was a 3-1 game as Kevin Klein banked a pass off the left boards in the neutral zone to get the puck behind the defense with Tootoo picking it up in the Anaheim end and from the left circle he blasted it past Ellis.

The Ducks got one goal closer with 6:36 to play when Teemu Selanne fed the disc to the slot where Beauchemin one-timed it home as he fell to the ice.

That was it, though, as Nashville limited Anaheim's chances the rest of the way to hold on for the win.
