Setoguchi, Wild take down Red Wings

Mar 21, 2013 - 5:31 AM Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Devin Setoguchi netted a pair of goals and Niklas Backstrom stopped 36 pucks as the Minnesota Wild downed Detroit, 4-2, at Joe Louis Arena.

Mikko Koivu and Kyle Brodziak also tallied and Pierre-Marc Bouchard added two assists for the Wild, who have won four in a row and six of their last seven.

"It's been fun hockey for us lately," said Setoguchi. "The main thing is is that everyone is ready to go from the start of the game, no matter who it is. When you have everyone going it makes it that much easier for everyone else."

Gustav Nyquist and Drew Miller supplied the offense for the Red Wings, who have lost four of six after their two-game win streak was halted.

"We weren't good enough tonight," said Detroit head coach Mike Babcock. "That's really the only way to look at it. We weren't good enough and they were on their game."

Jimmy Howard allowed all four goals on just 19 shots in defeat.

Setoguchi hit the back of the net just 2:04 after the opening faceoff, and a potential tying goal from Detroit after the seven-minute mark was waved off due to the puck being struck with a high stick.

Brodziak made it 2-0 at 3:51 of the second, rushing the net to tap in a cross- ice pass from Jared Spurgeon from atop the crease.

Nyquist raced the length of the ice and slid a backhander through Backstrom's pads for a 2-1 game with 9:09 played in the second frame, but the Wild gained back their two-goal lead when Koivu's wrister dropped from Howard's glove less than two minutes later.

Setoguchi added another tally, this time with the man advantage, for a 4-1 Minnesota edge after 40 minutes.

Detroit's only answer in the final period was a rising wrister by Miller on a power play with 14 seconds left in regulation.
