McCabe's OT goal keeps Leafs alive

Apr 4, 2007 - 8:23 AM TORONTO (Ticker) -- Bryan McCabe kept the Toronto Maple Leafs alive.

McCabe one-timed a blast over the glove of goaltender Martin Biron on the power play 2:18 into overtime to give the Maple Leafs a 3-2 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Andrew Raycroft stopped 23 shots to tie a franchise record with 37 wins.

"For sure I take it (in stride)," Raycroft said. "It is what it is. The number one priority is making it into the playoffs and win two more. It is kinda nice to just worry about winning and getting it into the playoffs."

Toronto (38-30-11) remained one point behind Montreal for the eighth and final spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Montreal beat Boston on Tuesday.

"When they tied it up late in the game we battled away and found a way to win," Toronto center Mats Sundin said. "We know that we're going to have to play better against the Islanders and Montreal if we're going to make the playoffs."

The win was the eight straight home triumph for Toronto.

"I think we knew at the All-Star break that our record at home was going to have to be better if we were going to get into the playoffs," Sundin said. "It's very nice to see. We're going on the road, make sure we have a good road game, and then obviously try and win at home."

Flyers left wing Mike York tied the game at 2-2 with his 10th goal of the season with 4:14 left in the third period.

Philadelphia took a 1-0 lead 1:25 into the second period on Ryan Potulny's seventh tally of the season. But Montreal rebounded with goals by Ian White at 9:53 of the middle session and another by Hank Gill with 5:10 to play for a 2-1 lead.
