Ducks rally past Stars to match franchise record

Oct 21, 2013 - 3:34 AM Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Corey Perry potted back-to-back goals in the second to spark a string of five unanswered Anaheim goals, as the Ducks notched their club record-tying seventh straight win with a 6-3 decision over the Dallas Stars on Sunday at Honda Center.

Emerson Etem tallied the go-ahead goal late in the second before Ryan Getzlaf, who added three assists, and Mathieu Perreault each lit the lamp in the third to cap the rally for the Ducks, who improved to 5-0 at home while matching their best win streak in franchise-history, set from Feb. 20-March 7, 1999.

"They showed true leadership," Anaheim head coach Bruce Boudreau said of Perry and Getzlaf. "They took it upon themselves early in the second period when we were pretty flat, and needing to get going."

Jonas Hiller allowed three goals on 12 shots in the first before being removed in favor of Frederik Andersen, who stopped all 24 shots he faced over the final 40 minutes.

The Ducks did all their damage against 21-year-old rookie Jack Campbell, who allowed all six goals on 47 shots in his NHL debut.

Shawn Horcoff registered a goal and an assist, while Brenden Dillon and Ryan Garbutt each scored once for the Stars, who have dropped four of their last five games.

Trailing 3-1 after 20 minutes, the Ducks peppered Campbell for 23 shots in the second period, three of which found the back of the net to put Anaheim in front by the end of the frame.

Perry pulled the Ducks within one just 54 seconds in with his fourth of the season before adding a power-play marker at the 11:48 mark to even the score, as Cam Fowler's blast from the left point deflected off the stick of a Dallas defender before catching the sweater of Perry on its way past Campbell to tie the game at 3-3.

Etem's short-handed tally put the Ducks in front with 1:05 left in the frame, as Andrew Cogliano slid a perfect pass from the left mid-boards into the slot, where Etem one-touched the disc over the glove-side shoulder of Campbell for a 4-3 lead.

Getzlaf extended the lead with a wrister from the right circle 4:26 into the third before Perreault added his third of the season at the 15:12 mark to account for the final margin.

Teemu Selanne's power-play tally 2:38 into the contest staked Anaheim to a 1-0 lead, but the Stars countered with three straight goals to seize control.

Garbutt beat Hiller high to the glove side to knot the game at 10:15 before Dillon followed under 4 1/2 minutes later with a heavy slapper from the left point that deflected off the skate of an Anaheim defender and knuckled past Hiller to give Dallas a 2-1 lead.

Horcoff's tip-in tally with Dallas on the power-play with 1:05 left in the first sent the Stars into the first intermission with a 3-1 cushion.

"We came out strong after playing last night, got up to a 3-1 lead and it was really unfortunate for us to have that fall through," Garbutt said.
