Hutton stars as Preds shut down Stars

Jan 21, 2014 - 6:49 AM Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Carter Hutton made 35 saves and the Nashville Predators beat the Dallas Stars 4-1 on Monday.

Nick Spaling, Shea Weber, Roman Josi and Mike Fisher each scored for the Predators, who have won three of four. Josi also had an assist and Eric Nystrom had two helpers.

"Obviously, there have been some good screens lately and things are just going [in], so hopefully we can just keep getting things there and we'll get second opportunities off of it," said Weber.

Cody Eakin had a power-play goal for the Stars, who have lost three in a row and nine of their last 10 (1-8-1). Kari Lehtonen allowed four goals on 23 shots.

"This is on me to get the team through this. I look at myself first and we've got to perform a little bit better," said Stars coach Lindy Ruff.

Eakin gave the Stars a 1-0 lead 4:45 into the game on a power play, scoring his 11th goal of the season on a slap shot from the right circle.

The man-advantage came after Predators center David Legwand was called for goaltender interference on a goal that was disallowed.

The Predators scored twice in under six minutes later in the period to take the lead for good. Spaling scored on a rebound at 11:35 after Josi's shot from the left circle and Weber fired a shot from the point over Lehtonen's shoulder at 17:16 for his 13th goal.

Josi made it 3-1 with 32 seconds left in the second period, sneaking in from the blue line for a slap shot from the left circle.

Fisher scored his 16th goal 3:46 into the last period on a one-timer from the slot after Colin Wilson fed him with a behind-the-back pass from the low left side.
