Bobrovsky, Blue Jackets shut out Maple Leafs
Apr 9, 2015 - 4:08 AM Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Sergei Bobrovsky made 35 saves en route to his second shutout of the season as the Columbus Blue Jackets topped the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-0 on Wednesday.Scott Hartnell tallied a goal and an assist, Ryan Murray scored in his return to the lineup and Boone Jenner, Jeremy Morin and Artem Anisimov also lit the lamp for the Blue Jackets, who improved to 10-0-1 over their last 11 games.
"It's a good feeling any time you win in this league," Columbus head coach Todd Richards said. "There are a lot of things to feel good about."
James Reimer allowed four goals on 20 shots, while Jonathan Bernier made 12 saves in relief for the Maple Leafs, who have dropped three of their last four games.
"Our team wasn't prepared to start the game and play the same way they were," Toronto interim head coach Peter Horachek said.
Anisimov opened the scoring by firing a shot over Reimer's blocker from the slot with 6:09 left in the first period.
Just over two minutes later, Jenner increased Columbus' lead by accepting Ryan Johansen's feed from behind the net and wristing it into the net. Hartnell capped the three-goal opening frame on a left-circle wrister with one minute remaining.
Murray, who missed nine games with an ankle injury, continued the scoring and chased Reimer 3:30 into the second with a shot from just inside the blue line on the power play.
Morin coasted across the blue line and slapped a shot past a screened Bernier with 3:26 left in the middle stanza to account for the final score.
