Dorsett, Canucks top Oilers

Nov 2, 2014 - 6:07 AM Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Derek Dorsett scored the winner in the third period to give the Vancouver Canucks a 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.

Luca Sbisa and Linden Vey also scored, while Ryan Miller made 25 saves for the Canucks, who won their fourth straight game.

Jordan Eberle and David Perron scored goals for the Oilers, who hit the road for five games starting in Philadelphia on Tuesday. Ben Scrivens gave up all three goals on 30 shots.

With the score tied in the third and a man down, the Canucks took a 3-2 lead off a Scrivens miscue.

The goalie gathered the puck in front of his net and tried to play it off the boards to his left and out. Dorsett, though, was right there to take the puck and shoot it home for his first with the team at 4:05.

"I'm certainly not gonna stand here and crucify the guy," Oilers coach Dallas Eakins said of the play. "It's easy to stand back and point fingers, but that kid kept us in the game at key points. He'll bounce back."

Miller needed to make just six stops in the third to preserve the lead and get the win.

The Oilers struck first when Taylor Hall skated down the middle and passed to his right for Eberle, who backhanded the puck home to the far side at 12:39 of the first.

Vancouver, though, answered inside a minute to play in the first, as a Chris Higgins rebound came out to the slot where Sbisa snapped it in for his second of the year.

"Those are pucks you dream about when you go to bed," Sbisa said of his goal. "I was in a lucky spot to score."

At 16:37 of the second, the Canucks made it a 2-1 game when Dorsett's quick shot from the slot was stopped and Vey was at the right side to put the rebound between the pads of Scrivens.

The lead lasted just 1:04, though, as Edmonton sent the game into the second intermission tied when Leon Draisaitl received a pass in the slot and dished it over to the right circle where Perron beat Miller with a wrister.
