Blues end road trip with OT win at Pittsburgh

Mar 25, 2015 - 4:11 AM Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Alex Steen recorded the game-winner just 35 seconds into overtime and St. Louis ended a road trip with a 3-2 decision over Pittsburgh at CONSOL Energy Center.

Zbynek Michalek held the puck at the right point, raised his stick and faked a shot before slapping a cross-ice pass to Steen for a successful deflection.

"The OT goal was my fault," Penguins defenseman Ben Lovejoy admitted. "(Steen) got inside position, and I can't let that happen."

Robert Bortuzzo and Marcel Goc scored in the second period for the Blues, who head home after going 3-1-2 on their six-game sojourn.

Jake Allen emerged victorious with a 24-save effort.

"Jake played great," Blues defenseman Robert Bortuzzo said of his goaltender. "It was a good win for us after a long road trip."

Blake Comeau and Steve Downie lit the lamp for the Penguins, who lost for the fifth time in their last six.

Marc-Andre Fleury suffered the setback despite stopping 32 shots.

Comeau put the hosts on the board at 8:41 of the second period, finishing off a 2-on-1 with Daniel Winnik and Downie doubled the advantage on the following shift on a shot from the right side of the crease.

Bortuzzo picked up his first score against his old club at 14:52 on a shot from the right wing and another former Penguin, Goc, tied it with 2:36 left before intermission.

Fleury made 12 stops and Allen turned away 11 pucks to keep things deadlocked until the extra session.

Game Notes

The Penguins suffered just their third regulation defeat and fifth overall this season when scoring first, dropping to 17-3-2 ... Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby still has not recorded a goal against St. Louis in his career ... The Blues have won three in a row and five of their last seven games in the Steel City since January of 2002.
